The Kentucky Derby is a quintessential event in America. As such, planning is done way in advance. Lots of  Louisville restaurants are already booked solid for Derby Eve and Derby Day. Still, it can’t hurt to try to squeeze in. You never know when there may be a cancellation or opening. These are some restaurants with some very special offerings. If you can squeeze in there, we suggest you do:

Equus Jack’s Lounge: I am told they only have a few spots left. Executive Chef Tavis Rockwell has crafted a Woodford Reserve Mint Julep Dinner. Cocktails were created by “Bad Girl of Bourbon” Joy PerrineGuests will be able to chat with Chris Morris, Master Distiller of Woodford Reserve. The cost is $90 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required. The restaurant is located at 122 Sears Avenue. For more information, please call the restaurant at (502) 897-9721.

St. Charles Exchange: This is a brand new restaurant bar concept in downtown Louisville. It’s not open yet, but we’re told it will be ready for Derby weekend. They will offer a 3-course prix fixe menu on Friday, May 4th and Saturday, May 5th designed by Executive Chef, Mitch Prensky, for $85 per person. Recommended cocktails and wine pairings for each course will also be available. Reservations and details at 502-618-1917
