Top 10 Worst Celebrity Tippers

Tipping is a big issue for waiters and restaurant staff. Tips form a big part of their take-home pay, which can make or break their budget.  We already know which celebs are good tippers; but now we’re looking at the dark side: celebrities who don’t tip well.  And not only that, some tight-tipping celebrities are also rude to their service staff. If you work in a restaurant, these are celebrities you may want to seat at someone else’s section:

Britney Spears – Wait staff at a particular restaurant are singing Toxic instead of Lucky after rendering service to popular-lost-then-popular-again pop star princess Britney Spears. LoveToKnow shares a story about Britney allegedly throwing some loose change on the floor as a tip for the staff of a restaurant to pick to up.

Madonna – Despite her multi-million assets, Madonna is always at the top of the list when it comes to tipping (for lack thereof). She tops the celebrity buzz sites List of the Day and Glamorati’s list of celebrities known for being cheap tippers. She is one of the few celebrities who are not keen on leaving tips for waiters. When she does tip, it’s usually an amount that’s too little to notice. Madonna and her former husband, Guy Ritchie, were said to have left a tip of $18 on a $400 bill. It’s obvious that it didn’t even reach 1% of their total bill, which seems pretty cheap considering their earnings are millions in total. Maybe she’s confused and thinks she’s in Europe.

Usher – R&B superstar, Usher is also one of the few celebrities who are rumored to not be good tippers. We hear he is consistent; consistent in asking for another person to pick up his check for him. He is also consistent in being on Stained Apron’s cheap celebrity tippers. What’s worse? He once (or maybe twice, or a few times) left an autograph instead of cash for a tip. That’s only cool if the staff specifically asks for it. If he were truly generous about leaving tips, he should just leave something that servers won’t have to hawk on eBay for actual cash.

Tiger Woods – What is this celebrity golf player doing on our list of worst celebrity tippers? Apparently, Woods does not tip, no matter how much his check goes up. His reason? He never brings cash with him.  List of the Day also had a story about Woods taking back a supposed $5 tip for a waitress upon realizing that he already gave her a tip earlier that evening. Talk about a tight-fisted golfer.

Mariah Carey – Another diva is bringing her status and using it as an excuse to be on the list of the worst celebrity tippers. According to Glamorati, Mariah kept a restaurant open very late for a party with a large group. Apparently, the singer and her group were getting too diva-ish and were so demanding the whole time they were there and they didn’t even leave a tip. Now, keeping a restaurant open late and being too demanding without even leaving a tip is considered rude in Hollywood . . . and everywhere else

Kirsten Dunst – Spidey’s girlfriend may be an epitome of beauty and success but the same can’t be said of her when it comes to tipping. There have been rumors about Kirsten being a tight-fisted customer. There, reportedly, were a few instances that her bill came out to hundreds of dollars with her not leaving anything for a tip, even if she had a check of $223.

Barbara Streisand – What do you expect from a big actress like Barbara Streisand? Big orders, big demands, big check, and supposedly, a big tip. You, however, would be wrong on that last one. Once at a New York Restaurant, her bill came out to $457 but she only left $10 for the tip. Expect the unexpected because thefrisky.com and Glamorati always include her in their list of cheap celebrity tippers.

LeBron James – This highly paid basketball celebrity isn’t much of a high-tipper himself. Lebron was TMZed as a bad tipper after keeping a steakhouse open until 4am in Cleveland just so he can finish his meal. The check came out to $800 and he gave just $10 for the tip. LeBron isn’t a top caliber athlete for nothing, but maybe he just needs the generosity of a championship before he actually becomes generous enough to give a tip when dining.

Jeremy Piven – Nobu is one of the most popular restaurants in the entire US, unfortunately, Jeremy Piven is banned from the restaurant after a certain tipping incident. Apparently, Piven apparently brought some friends to Nobu without a reservation, but luckily they got seats. They were served well the entire time they were there and when the bill came out, they paid for it. As for the tip, Piven is said to have told the manager, “Thanks for nothing,” while handing out a signed DVD of Entourage (he plays Ari Gold in the series) as the tip. I wonder what the other guys from Entourage are like when it comes to tipping.

Sean Penn – According to Glamorati, the Hollywood actor had his waiters wait for a generous tip after dining at a restaurant in New Orleans. He got his $450 tab, but he was not as generous as they thought he would be.  He did not leave a single cent as a tip. Sure, he may be a good actor and a supporter of charitable events, but he’s not exactly a good tipper. (Maybe he learned this from Madonna?)
