Who doesn’t love Mario Batali? Well, I don’t think anyone does. I mean, who would hate such a charismatic character who only aims to introduce us into the world of fine cuisine. He’s a pretty nice guy, down to earth at times. Who wouldn’t be when you go to work in shorts and Crocs?

Mario Batali is one of the most recognized and respected chefs in the world of television, books, and magazines. His take on Italia cooking is what you might call as legendary. He knows how to cook traditional Italian, and he’s not shy to share that knowledge to anyone who asked.

As a chef, his restaurants are all the best in Italian cuisine. There’s that magical quality in them that becomes apparent the moment you step inside. The food there is incredible, what with the Italian influence all over the place. Surely, you are in for a dining treat when you order food from any of his restaurants. With their first overseas restaurant, Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza, opening in Singapore, you can expect the same kind of magic to permeate those two.

He is also a respected author of cookbooks. With eight published works under his belt, his take on Italian cooking is considered as the most definitive when it comes to cookbooks. Indeed, he is someone who never minces his words. He can talk about Italian cooking for hours are end, but still be understood by the casual listener. It’s the same way with his books. You don’t need to have a degree in cooking to understand the demands of Italian cuisine.

He is also a man of charitable character. He created the Mario Batali Foundation last 2009. The aim of this foundation is to educate, empower, and encourage children and getting them ready for life. Through fundraisers that it organizes, Mario is able to make contributions to children’s disease research, children’s hunger relief, and literacy programs. Through this, he hopes that he can make a difference in this world. That is how nice this man is.

So what do you think of him? Frankly, he’s someone who deserves my admiration. Crocs and shorts aside, Batali is a man with a strong character and an impressive culinary knowledge. Indeed, when it comes Italian cooking, only one name would spring up to mind: Mario Batali.
