Valentine’s Day is right around the corner…don’t wait until the last minute to make reservations. If you need some recommendations, look no further.

Valentine’s Day NYC CelebrationsBite Club: For those of you not familiar with Bite Club, I highly recommend them. They are an underground dining club with an amazing chef. Their events are truly special and you could really impress the person you love with reservations to their February event “Our Chemical Romance”.  As of yesterday there were two seats available at the Chef’s Table. The event is $100 per person. What are you waiting for, snatch them up by emailing [email protected].

Hecho En Dumbo: The East Village’s hottest Mexican restaurant is now taking reservations for their $25 Valentine’s prix fixe. This is a perfect way to celebrate if you’re on a budget. The menu includes a cocktail at their new annex, Salon Hecho which will feature an all female Mariachi band.  For reservations email [email protected]

Philippe: I do Chinese food on Christmas, why not start a tradition for Valentine’s?  Philippe was named Best in Chinese Food by Zagat 2010. We think it’s darn good too. On Valentine’s Day, they will have their signature dishes with a touch of romance. Dessert will be Philippe’s red velvet heart shaped cake. The cake costs $9. For resos email [email protected]

Spice Market’s executive Chef Anthony Ricco has crafted a special prix fixe menu for this very special day. The menu includes shaved tuna with chili tapioca, lobster roll, spice chicken samosas, steamed lobster, grilled strip steak, and a dark chocolate tart with white chocolate kaffir lime ice cream. Cost $66 per person (plus taxes and tips). 403 W 13th St, NY, NY (Meat Packing District). Call 212-675-2322 for reservations.

Ayza Wine & Chocolate Bar:  Their new location in the West Village is probably one of the most romantic spots in NYC. The tables will be decorated with rose petals and romantic red candles and champagne & fresh berries.  Executive Chef Brian Gruskin’s menu will include the choice of a champagne and carrot poached striped bass or cocoa braised beef short ribs with a truffle cauliflower mash and tempura hen-of-the-woods mushrooms.  There will also be dessert paired with Monbazillac Château Belingard from France (I’ve heard rumors of chocolate truffles from Jacques Torres).  The cost is $74 per person (plus tax + tip). Dinner will take place February 13 & 14th from 5pm ” 12am. Call (212) 365-2992 for reservations.

Sushi Samba: Both Sushi Samba locations (7th Ave & Park Ave) will be offering a special menu for Valentine’s Day.  The menus include poached bay scallops, a gunkan trio, and steamed lobster gyozas. Also, a decadent cocktail made with pisco, domaine de canton, fresh pineapple, and freshly muddled raspberry. For 7th Ave reservations call (212) 691-7785, for Park Ave call (212) 475-9377

Maya by Richard Sandoval: Add a little spice to your V-day with a three course Mexican dinner at Maya. What’s nicer, Maya is offering their special menu from Fri-Tues, Feb 10-14. So that if you’re like me (I stay home on V-day…and go out to celebrate a few days before) you can enjoy “Valentine’s” any day that week. The three course meal costs $60 per person (plus taxes and tip). Call 212-585-1818 for reservations.

Gemma at the Bowery Hotel:  I can think of nothing better than oysters on Valentine’s Day. Gemma will be offering an indulgent three course prix fixe menu that will include blue point oysters and Poached Lobster. If you’re expecting to pay an exorbitant amount of money; you’re wrong. Their Valentine’s menu costs a mere $55 (plus tax and tips). Call (212) 505-7300 for reservations.

NY Central: You can also head to NY Central for their incredibly charming menu. It includes dishes such as the “Just the Tuna of You”(honey fennel puree, vanilla radicchio, pomegranate gastrique sauce) and “I’m Farfalleing For You” (langoustines, local apples, sauce nantua). The menu offers three courses (and looks delectable).   Valentine’s Day from 5pm-10pm, $75 per person (plus tax and tip).  Call (646) 213-6865 for reservations.
