Top Ten Summer Cocktails

Whether you’re laying poolside tanning or searing burgers on the grill, I can’t think of a better accoutrement to complement long lazy summer afternoons than a refreshing summer cocktail — except maybe two or three refreshing summer cocktails. We’ve handpicked ten great FriendsEat cocktail recipes guaranteed to cool down your body and freshen up your spirits.

Top Ten Summer Cocktails

1. Sloe Gin Fizz
Every Fizz has club soda and either lime juice or lemon juice. These are great on hot summer days. Sloe Gin Fizz is a classic everyone should know.

1 oz Sloe Gin; 1 oz Gin; 3/4 oz lemon juice, club soda and slice lemon. Shake Sloe Gin, Gin and Lemon juice in ice. Strain into tall glass filled with ice. Fill glass with soda. Stir and add lemon slice.

2. Margarita
Tequila 1.5 oz – Triple Sec 0.5 oz (Cointreau if you wanna get fancy) – Lime juice (1 full lime, strained) – Salt Lime for garnish & rim Shaker.

Rub the rim of a margarita glass with lime wedge. Dip the glass in a plate of salt. Place tequila, lime juice and triple sec in shaker. Shake and strain into glass.

3. White Peach, Cassis, and Champagne Floats
6 medium-size white peaches, halved, pitted, each half cut into 4 wedges; 2 pints peach ice cream; 3/4 cup cream de cassis (black-currant liqueur) plus additional for drizzling; 2 cups chilled Brut Champagne or sparkling wine.

Place 3 peach wedges in bottom of each of 6 tall glasses. Top with 1 scoop ice cream, then another 3 peach wedges. Add second scoop ice cream and top with 2 more peach wedges. Drizzle each with 2 tablespoons cream de cassis. Pour 1/3 cup Champagne into each glass. Top with 1 scoop ice cream, drizzle with additional cream de cassis, and serve.

4. Ginger Mint Mojitos
2 Limes; 2/3 cup; white rum; 10 fresh mint sprigs (plus more for garnish); 1/4 cup sugar; 2 TBSP fresh ginger, and 2 cups club soda.

Juice limes (1/4 cup) and save halves. Mash limes, juice, rum, mint, sugar and ginger in a bowl with spoon. Strain into bowl after 20 minutes: discard solids. Fill 4 glasses with ice, 1/2 cup of rum mix and 1/2 cup club soda. Garnish with mint & Serve.

5. Southern Peach
Nothing is better than peaches, except peaches that give you a buzz. 1 oz. Soco; 1 oz. Peach liqueur; 1/2 oz cream, and 1 slice fresh peach. Shake Soco, peach liqueur and cream with ice.

Strain over rocks in chilled old fashioned glass. Add slice of peach.
6. Manhattan Iced Tea
Use 1/2 oz vodka; 1/2 oz gin; 1/2 oz rum; 1/2 oz triple sec, and 1/2 oz tequila.

Pour into a tall glass, fill the rest of the glass with cranberry juice and add a splash of 7-up.

7. Americana Champagne Cocktail
Use 1 tsp 100 proof bourbon; 1/2 tsp sugar; 1 dash bitters; 4 oz iced Brut champagne, and 1 slice fresh peach.

Stir bourbon with sugar and bitters in chilled champagne glass. Add champagne and peach slice.

8. Midori Dream
Mix Midori Melon liqueur, Sprite, and Vodka. Half fill a shaker with ice, put in 1 Oz of Midori and 2 Oz of vodka.

Shake well, then serve it into a highballer with ice. Fill the cup with Sprite, stir and serve.

9. Kir Royale
Pour champagne and Grand Marnier into flute, then top with Chambord.

10. Polar Bear Cocktail
What weather do Polar Bears like?

Very – Vodka

Cold – Creme de Cacao

Climates – Cream.

Use 3/4 oz (2 counts) vodka; 3/4 oz (2 counts) creme de cacao, and cream.

Mix ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake, then strain into a cocktail glass. Also known as Velvet Hammer.
