Giving Help This Holiday Season

The holidays are need, and I’m sure there are a lot of you rushing out to buy whatever gifts you have in mind. Well, that’ the spirit of the giving, but don’t you think its better that we give something that would help a big deal. Not only will this make you feel good, but with the USA economy in spiral right now, you can actually lend a hand for our unfortunate brothers and sisters. Here are five organizations that you can donate to.

Giving Help This Holiday Season

  1. Farm Aid

We need to help our farmers stay in their lands. They provide the food that we buy from supermarkets, right? It’s only right that we help them get back on their feet after being struck by natural disasters, like the flooding that happened in the Midwest.

2. Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA)

This organization needs our help in bringing nutritious food to our elderly, home-bound, and disabled fellow Americans. Donating to their group can go a long way for them.

3. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer

It’s a nifty holiday idea, buying cookies from them. Not only will you get the perfect holiday gift, but you are also contributing to the research on cancer cures. You will be helping a lot of kids with that.

4. Freedom from Hunger

You, too, can help empower women. By donating to their organization, you can help poor women have a fighting chance in improving themselves and their families.

5. Help USA

You can bring shelter to the homeless by donating to their group. They will use the donation to fund their livelihood projects and other programs meant to improve the lives of the homeless.

DONATIONS

Not only is giving donations cool, but it’s also good for you. You may not know it, but donations are considered by as tax deductible. That means you get to save some money for yourself by giving away some. Now, if cash is a bit tight for you, too, don’t worry. They also need your help getting some work done. A little helping hand gives them a good boost. Here are some great organizations you can volunteer to during the holidays:

1. Food Bank

Food Bank of New York will be grateful if you can give some of your time there with them. They do need extra hand for their repacking, soup kitchen, and the like.

2. Action Against Hunger

Whether you work in their office or you’re in the field, Action Against Hunger will always appreciate whatever effort you give them.

3. Join in Church Programs

This is a good way to show your concern for your fellow brothers and sisters in the church. There are many programs there that you can volunteer to.

4. Community Action

You community might also be having a program of sorts for the needy. Usually, a soup kitchen they’ve organized is a good place for you to help.

5.  Tax assistance

For those with accounting know-how, helping other people understand their tax forms could translate into big savings for them. In addition, you might learn a few things for yourself, too.

There are a lot of other programs you can join during the holidays, since there’s no doubt that a lot of work needs to be done. Just remember that it’s the effort that counts. You can make a lot of people happy, this way.
