What would the holidays be without the aroma of fresh baked Christmas treats wafting through every room in the house? We’ve selected ten (actually 11, one extra for good luck) special recipes from our FriendsEat community of foodies to add warmth and good cheer to your holiday season.
Scandinavian Spiced Christmas Cake with Applesauce Filling – Delicious blend of ginger, molasses, applesauce, and almonds with a touch of brandy. Elves eat this treat at the North Pole.
Christmas Snowy Logs – A great recipe the kids will love to help with! Lots of potassium in this treat.
Christmas Sarmale – Traditional Romanian cabbage rolls. A Romanian favorite on Christmas. Spicy and nutritious.
Christmas Quiche – An excellent quick and easy appetizer! Light and healthy.
Buche De Noel – This French dessert looks just like your Christmas Yule Log and it tastes heavenly.
Christmas Eggs – A fantastic egg casserole with sausage, mushroom, and cheese. Got to have a good hearty breakfast before digging into to all the presents.
Christmas Goose – This recipe is delicious and you can make it a day ahead of time so that if you are entertaining, it will make your life much easier. Spiced with mushrooms, cherries and white wine.
Christmas Lane Cake - Dried cherries and apricots highlight this impressive version of a southern classic. A little bourbon in the frosting makes this truly southern.
Banana Apple Bread – Delicious banana nut bread with brown sugar apples. Add your choice of any nut (walnut, pecan, raisins, currants, etc.), and be sure to use super-ripe bananas, the blacker the better!
Almond Tuiles – The curved roof tiles, called tuiles, on the farmhouses of southern France are the inspiration behind these curved almond cookies. Shaping them is the trickiest part of the recipe, but a little practice will make the process easier and easier.
