It’s only natural that we want to have a little bonding time with our kids, especially if we’re going to restaurants. The only thing you’ll have to worry about is whether it’s a good idea to do that or not. Kids are very picky, and they don’t have the patience that adults usually have over food.

So, to make your restaurant trip with kids trouble-resistant, here are ten tips you should take by heart:

  1. Choose your place. It saves you time and the hassle of bringing your kids. Also, you can get to select the place that would be most comfortable to stay.
  2. Go early. It’s never bad to be and early bird. By going to restaurants early, there would be less customers and more food service crew to help you. Plus, there’s a less chance that you’d get the angry stares of other customers when your kids go on a tantrum.
  3. Sit by the windows, near the door. Kids like to watch people passing by, so it’s a good way to distract them while waiting for the food. And in case they really are causing a ruckus already, being near the door facilitates a quick exit.
  4. Stick to familiar dishes. Kids are most likely to eat food they know than to eat fancy meals that they have no idea what it is.
  5. Don’t go to fancy restaurants. That would be for later time, when the kids are older. Places like these are usually for grown-ups only.
  6. Keep them occupied. PSP’s aren’t a good idea to bring to the table, so you could instead bring along some crayons and paper to keep your child busy while waiting for food.
  7. Talk to your kids. Make it clear to them how you want them to behave. Aside from mentally preparing the kids, you reduce your worrying over their behavior.
  8. Eat with the kids. For meals with several courses, it would be a no-no to serve the main course for the kids first. That will make them full earlier and make them bored.
  9. Give them a treat. If they behave all throughout the meals, then it would be a good to give them a treat like some cocktail drinks or juice. It gives an air of specialness that kids are sure to appreciate.
  10. 10.  Last, but most importantly, prepare to tip well. Restaurant staff will appreciate your gesture. And it’s also you way of saying that you’re happy with the service they gave. Be prepared to shell out 30% if the service for you and your kids is top notch.
