Les Cinq Amandes
I got a sweet invite to the NY Chocolate Show this past weekend. I got to taste a lot of yummy things, including treats from Les Cinq Amandes (the Five Almonds). I received a box that included coconut almondine (in white and dark chocolate), rose almondine, and a rum raisin fait Maison. Here’s how they stacked up:
White Chocolate Coconut Almondine: I am not usually a fan of white chocolate. I find it cloyingly sweet. Whatever they used on this treat did not have that noxious sweetness. It was significantly more sophisticated than most “white chocolate” I’ve had. The coconut had a subtle flavor. Overall, I’d say this is white chocolate done right (something I never thought I would say).
Rum Raisin Fait Maison: These were quite tasty. I always enjoy a little chewy, gooey middle. The rum flavor was super light, almost imperceptible, but the raisin was lovely. I could eat these any time.
Rose Almondine: The rose flavor was also very delicate. I think that may be why these treats worked. The flavors were there, but did not over power the chocolates. They were merely there to enhance its flavors.
I would not hesitate to pick up these goodies (and I certainly would not complain if I received them).
