What's This?

On our first eating night in Budapest, we were lucky enough to have friends who live here guide us to a wonderful eating establishment; Klassz Bistro. We arrived and were seated in the back which is a wine store within the restaurant. It was a great atmosphere, one drawback was that this was the smoking area. Not a fan…but the food made up for it.

We ordered a bottle of rose for our table of six. It was pretty late, so we skipped appetizers and went straight to our main courses. I won’t go into what everyone ate, but I will tell you everyone left full, happy and sated.

I will tell you what I ordered. I ordered an amazing duck dish: duck breast with creamy polenta and duck gizzard ragout. This was spectacular. The duck was perfectly cooked. The polenta was sinful yet light and the gizzard ragout was my favorite part of the meal.

Antonio got a delicious dish as well. For him it was the Pork tenderloin with coriander, chickpea cream, lime, green beans and potato. Again, a perfectly cooked meat with flavors to compliment it. When he was not looking I was sneaking some of his cream and his potatoes. He paired this with a beef consomme with carrots. It was simple, delicious and comforting; almost bulalo like. It was a pleasant surprise.

Dinner for six cost about $100 (USD), this included a bottle of wine. For me, this restaurant is a win. The service was not amazing, but fine; and the food more than made up for it.

Klassz Bistro is located at Andrassy U. 41 in the Pest side of Budapest, Hungary.
