Restaurants Hosting Thanksgiving in NYC 2012 – Part 1

Last time you hosted Thanksgiving, Aunt Mildred and Aunt Sonia got into a fist fight, G.I. Joe’s clogged the toilet, and clean-up took you a week. Make your life easier this year. These restaurants will save your sanity, a visit to jail, and a week of Windex and Spic and Span.

Atrio: (102 North End Avenue) – If you’re going to be in the Battery Park area, Atrio may be your spot. Their $55 prix fixe 3 course Thanksgiving menu looks delicious. They’ve got pumpkin tortellini, roasted black cod, and chocolate panna cotta. For details, call (212) 945-0100

Bocca Restaurant & Bar: (39 East 19th Street) – Thanksgiving dinner from Chef James Corona (formerly of Pó, San Domenico and Bouley) will be a four-course prix fixe at $49.95 per person. Dishes will include butternut squash soup with candied walnuts and aged balsamic, pumpkin risotto with amaretto, and a pumpkin cheesecake. For reservations call (212) 387-1200

Capsouto Freres (451 Washington Street) – This 32 year old family owned French Tribeca favorite, will be serving a 3-course prix fixe Thanksgiving Dinner Menu for $48.00 that includes a Terrine Provencal, a French roasted turkey, and even pumpkin profiteroles. Caravaggio: (23 East 74th Street) – The restaurant will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 12pm-9pm offering traditional Thanksgiving fixings as well as select a la carte items

Ҫa Va Brasserie: (310 West 44th Street) – Ҫa Va’s Takeaway Turkey Dinners for Thanksgiving will cost you $200, but it feeds 8-10 guests (that’s $20 per person). This is great if you are one of those people who ends up burning soup. The takeaway includes a 12-14 lb heritage breed, free range Turkey AND six side dishes like mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, cran-apple stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Ҫa Va will also be hosting a 3-course Thanksgiving prix fixe dinner with dishes such as pumpkin bisque with Maine lobster and cinnamon croutons, roasted leg of lamb with glazed carrots and rosemary bliss potatoes, and cranberry bread pudding with orange brulee and crème fraiche ice cream. Fiorini: (209 East 56th Street) – If you’re in the mood for classic New York, Lello Arpaia’s Fiorini is your spot. Fiorini is known for impeccable service and amazing Italian dishes. Their four-course prix fixe is a steal at $48. Dishes include corn and crabmeat soup, butternut squash ravioli in a brown butter sage sauce, a classic oven roasted turkey with stuffing and wild rice, and pecan pie. Gemma: (355 Bowery at the Bowery Hotel) – Chef Chris D’Amico is preparing a special homey menu of three-courses available for $65/person (or $89/person with wine pairings). The traditional meal includes a first course of butternut squash soup; the second, roasted Amish turkey with all the trimmings; and for dessert, a chestnut bread pudding. Jeanne & Gaston: (212 West 14th Street) – If you’re planning to spend Thanksgiving day on the Highline, definitely make your resos at Jeanne & Gaston. Chef Claude Godard’s Thanksgiving day menu is just $35 for three courses. Dishes include a crab and pumpkin soup, Thanksgiving turkey cooked two ways AND a Thanksgiving “Grand Assiette” featuring apple crumble, walnut creme brulee, and a warm pudding diplomat. La Bottega: (363 West 16th Street) The Maritime Hotel’s restaurant has chef Bart Retolatto slaving away to prepare his special pre-fixe, four-course feast featuring Italian options for $45/person or available a la carte.  Starters include baked cremini mushrooms filled with lump crab meat, and mains including polletto ruspante arrosto. Murals 54: (Sixth Avenue at 54th Street at the Warwick Hotel) – If you are planning to watch the parade, this may be your spot. The parade will go right past the hotel and Murals on 54′s will be offering a buffet including roasted butternut squash soup and malt beer-brined turkey with mushroom tarragon gravy and mulled wine cranberry sauce; as well as an extravagant dessert display with Thanksgiving favorites such as apple, pumpkin and pecan pies. The buffet is priced at $65 per person and $35 for children ages four to 12, and all children under the age of four are free.
