Another Food Recall

The Food and Drug Administration recently announced that the second-larget pistachio processor in the nation, Setton Farms a Terra Bell, California  is recalling up to 1 million pounds of it’s pistachio products that may have been cross-contaminated with salmonella.  Setton Farms is a food wholesaler who packages pistachio for companies such as Kraft foods and incorporates them as ingredients in mixed nuts and ice cream.

Usually pistachios are roasted at high temperatures to kill any bacteria such as a salmonella. In FDA tests they found that the contaminated raw pistachios came in contact with the roasted ones.

This definitely reminds us of the our recent coverage of Kroger’s Peanut Butter contamination.
