Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce, a spicy Thai-style hot sauce produced by Huy Fong Foods in Irwindale, California, is used on everything by hot sauce lovers, and has been America’s most famous sriracha since the 1980s, rivaling soy sauce as the nation’s favorite Asian-influenced condiment.

Lay’s features sriracha potato chips; Jack Link’s Beef Jerky has a sriracha hot chili sauce flavor, and Subway launched a Fiery Footlong menu this month featuring sriracha chicken and sriracha steak melts.

So it was only a matter of time before someone produced sriracha (a hot sauce named after the city of Si Racha in Thailand) flavored vodka.

To wit: Phillips Distilling Co., a family-owned Minneapolis-based spirits company has recently added Sriracha Vodka to its flavored vodka line. Other vodka flavors included in their line are UV Cake, UV Candy Bar, UV Salty Watermelon, UV Sweet Green Tea and its popular UV Blue.

“UV Sriracha is not too hot, not too spicy and the ideal vodka to punch up a Bloody Mary or any savory drink,”Phillips Director of Research and Development Jim Aune said in a press release.

As an interesting side note, when residents near the factory where Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce is produced complained of the fumes, a judge ordered the Sriracha hot sauce plant to partially shut down in response to the complaints.

Judge Robert H. O’Brien ordered Huy Fong Foods to cease any kind of operations that could be causing the odors and make immediate changes.

It’s not clear what the ruling means for next year’s supply of Sriracha hot sauce. The factory harvests and grinds chilis for three months out of the year, and the grinding of this year’s chilis has been completed.

But Huy Fong Foods posted banners defending its manufacturing process that read “No tear gas made here”

Huy Fong has said the ruling could mean there will be 200,000 less bottles of Sriracha sauce produced each day, which will not affect Phillips since they use their own special blend of chili peppers, garlic and vegetables in its Sriracha-flavored vodka.
