New Trends In Obesity

Studies are endless regarding obesity. Come to think of it, it is a good thing. Obesity is a problem that needs to be dealt with. If there is a way to reduce the numbers then it can really be good. The only problem here is that there are so many studies that people might wonder just how exactly they can lose weight. What really increases obesity? What should people try to avoid? And is it true that you die faster if you eat at McDonald’s?

While we all know that living a sedentary lifestyle, eating junk foods, and not watching TV can lead to obesity, there are other studies that show that you will also become obese if you are more involved in the church. That sure comes as a surprise, since religion would be the last thing people would think of when it comes to getting fat. Now, if you consider the jelly salads, potluck meals, and juice drinks served during the “after-ritual”get-togethers, then that would probably be the reason for the negative impact.

Another interesting observation was that city-dwellers tend to be fatter than those living in the countryside. That could probably be traced to the kind of lifestyle available in the city. High-fat foods, bars that sell hard drinks, cheap food found in street corners, these are just some of the reasons why we have a lot of fat people. Add the concrete environment and lack of exercise space, and it will be much more of a problem.

There are also other studies that revealed some surprising factors that can cause obesity. Some of these are lack of sleep, the controlled environment people live in because of air conditioning, pollution that affect the normal functioning of our body hormones, reduced smoking habits (smokers tend to lose weight), and medicines that cause us to gain weight.

New Trends In ObesityOther factors that may cause obesity are genetics, age of mothers when they give birth, the environment of the ancestors, the higher rate of fertility among obese people, and the chances of an obese person marrying another obese person.
