I’m more curious about Yakuzas rather than Mobs, but these two films are actually two of the best mob flicks I’ve seen. This restaurant in the old neighborhood of Harlem attracted mobster Louis Barone for a night for some fun-filled entertainment. But after having an argument with another mobster customer, the night ended with a bloodshed. This altercation was followed by unusual sightings such as finding a body inside a trash can outside the restaurant. Did the music that night really suck or was everyone just having a bad night?

Before moving its location twice, this seafood restaurant in Mulberry St. became the dying ground for high-profile mobster “Crazy JoeGallo. Coming in at Umberto’s in the wee hours after his birthday celebration at Copacabana, Crazy Joe was shot and died after getting comfortable in his seat. A gunman was immediately called in after a rival gangster saw Joe coming into the restaurant. Well, they should’ve fired clams instead.

Constant guests include AnthonyFat TonyRabito from the Bonnano crime family which was banned from coming back to this famous restaurant after his imprisonment for extortion, gambling, and racketeering. It is said that other mobsters meet every Tuesday and Thursday at the same, old, familiar table to discuss mob business, recorded by a surveillance camera which was used as an evidence for a legal case.

He was a part of a money-laundering operation which was busted back in 2008. He sure knows how to manage a famous restaurant and an illegal operation at the same time.

In case you don’t know it, this restaurant on 12th street used to be a very popular mobster hangout. The night of August 22 was supposed to be a night for a kiss and make-up between mobsters Rocco Umberto Valenti of the Morello family and Guisseppe Messeria, but ended with a blood spill. Valenti died from the shooting fiasco courtesy of Genovese crime family member, CharlesLuckyLuciano.

This classic Italian restaurant was one of the favorite dining places of top mobster John Gotti. He was well known for getting rid of former Gambino family Boss, Paul Castellano and eventually becoming the boss of one of the strongest mob families in New York. He was charged with racketeering, murder (5 charges), illegal gambling, loan sharking, and a couple of other crimes. He was convicted in 1992 and died at the age of 61 due to cancer in June 2002.

This relates to the above mentioned mobster, John Gotti. This steak house in Midtown, New York was home to the biggest high-profile mob killing over the last 3 decades. This was the place where John Gotti had planned an ambush attack on Paul Castellano (former Gambino family Boss) and Thomas Bilotti (underboss). He succeeded and both Castellano and Bilotti died in this bloodshed, making him the new Boss of the Gambino family throne.

Ralph “Raffie” Cuomo opened up the Original Ray’s in 1959. The restaurant was the consortium for the “Prince Street Crew,” and the Luchese crime family. It is said that cash and heroin were taken care of in the basement of Ray’s. The family sold the restaurant when Ralphie died and in its place stands Prince Street Pizza.
