Launch of NY Chocolate Week 2012
I wrote about Chocolate Week NYC two weeks ago and got a lovely invite from the organizers to drop by DB Bistro to taste some of the goodies being offered by the restaurants. It was an invite I could not decline. That is how I found myself tasting chocolate at 8:30 am in Midtown NY. Not all restaurants were represented, but those who came brought on their A-Game.
Ayza: Chef Brian Grushkin delighted us with a savory dish: chocolate braised short ribs with blue cheese grits and a poached egg.
DB Bistro: Pastry Chef Ashley Brauze gave a showing of some of her best desserts. Sinfully delicious.
Jeanne and Gaston: Chef Claude Godard showed a white chocolate creme brulee with a dark chocolate crumble.
If you have not yet reserved for any of these restaurants during chocolate week, here are three reasons why you should:
1. It takes place February 13-19 (perfect for Valentine’s Day celebrations…I usually celebrate the day before or after – less crowding and more attentive service).
2. It is for a good cause. The chefs will be donating money from meals sold to Action Against Hunger.
3. CHOCOLATE! CHOCOLATE! CHOCOLATE!
Participating Restaurants: Jean-Louis, CT – db Bistro Moderne – DBGB – Orsay – Ayza Wine & Chocolate Bar – Jeanne and Gaston - Cercle Rouge – Bistro Vendome – Gascogne – Opia and Serge Bistro.
Dishes for Chocolate Week will be crafted with Cacao Noel Chocolat de Couverture. Check the Chocolate Week website for details (each restaurant will have a different offering).
