Just Another Reason to Feed your Pet Organic
Cat owners who feed their pets dry cat food from Nutro Products should check the packages in their pantry. The Tennessee-based company is voluntarily recalling selected varieties of Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care Dry Cat Foods and Nutro Max Cat Dry Foods with “Best If Used By Dates” between May 12, 2010 and August 22, 2010. According to a news release issued by the manufacturer and posted on their web site, the food is being recalled due to incorrect levels of zinc and potassium, which affects the nutritional content of the food.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to switch to another product with a balanced nutritional profile, and return the cat food to the store where it was purchased for exchange or refund. Cat owners should monitor their pet for any unusual symptoms, such as a decline in appetite, vomiting or diarrhea. Contact your veterinarian if your cat is pregnant or has other health issues.
Check Nutro’s web site for a complete list of recalled products. For additional information, call Nutro Products at 1-800-833-5330 or visit Nutro’s list of frequently asked questions.
