The New Padma Burger

For those of you that joined the discussion “Padma Lakshmi- Crock or Cross-Over?” I wanted to make sure you got a chance to see this Carl’s Jr. commercial that has been airing recently to push their Western Bacon Cheeseburger.  The special extended version is below:

While on Top Chef, Padma’s undeniable sexuality is restricted to her somewhat risque clothing, you get the feeling in this ad that the true Padma is coming out.  Food to her is sexy, and a chance to be sexy.  At one point I think she even refers to times in high school when she used to climb into the back seat with one of those messy burgers.  At least I THINK that’s what she was saying.

At the very least, this is a bid on Padma’s part to dispell any prejudice about her past as a vegetarian.  (Her time in high school with the burger must have been after her teenage years as a vegetarian…)

Perhaps next season’s Top Chef contestants will take a cue from Padma and just cook a bunch of messy burgers.  That seems to be all it takes to get her excited.
