The Perfect Mother’s Day Dinner
Mother’s Day is on May 8, and there is still time for you to think up something good for your mom.
This is a special day for a special someone in your life. Truthfully, every day should be made a special day for your mother. Since we all lead busy lives, now is the only chance for us to say thank you. And what better way to do that than to prepare a Mother’s Day dinner for them.
Planning for the perfect Mother’s Day dinner should not be a hard thing to do. We all know that our moms are not that hard to please. As long we do make the effort, and add those little extra things for them, they would be happy. Sure, you could take them to their favorite restaurant, or some fancy dining place, but nothing beats the charm of a home-cooked meal. They did prepare food for you at home, right? Now is the perfect time to return the favor.
What can you prepare for a Mother’s Day dinner? There are plenty of ideas to think of. Keep in mind that today is a special day, so you should naturally prepare something special. It does not need to be expensive. Just putting more effort to prepare something for your mom would work.
First off, it would be a good idea to prepare a nice, warm soup. Cream of asparagus soup would be a good idea. It has a mild and creamy texture that can enhance your appetite. It is also very easy to make, and your mother will certainly love it.
Next, you could serve brown rice mushroom risotto in your dinner. This is a filling and savory recipe that you can try at home. Properly done, the risotto will have a soft and chewy texture, and the Shiitake and Maitake mushrooms used add a depth of flavor to the dish.
For the main meal, pleasantly surprise your mom with a serving of roasted chicken thighs with potatoes and carrots. This delicious recipe has a healthy twist to it with the addition of root crops that enhance the flavor and color of the roast chicken. Add the herbs and spices before roasting, and you will certainly be pleased with the result.
Finish the meal with a cup of summer berry salad. The sweet-sour flavor of berries mix quite well with yogurt, and the touch of mint in the mix add a pleasant taste in the palate. It makes for a nice end to a meal.
