How Much Would you Pay for an Ice Cube?

So how much is an ice cube worth to you? This story is hot off the press.
The New York Post is reporting that former columnist, TV commentator and financial guru Dan Dorfman got a bit hot under the collar when dining at midtown Manhattan’s Morton’s steakhouse. Dorfman was charged an extra $2.50 because he ordered his cocktail with ice. The five ice cubes he received in his vodka gimlet ran his tab up to $16.75 (regularly $14.25). That works out to 50¢ a cube.
It seems that Morton’s has been charging extra for ice cubes for over a dozen years now. “It’s an industry practice,” claims Sawan Thakkar, Morton’s general manager. However, this is the first time it has been made so … public.
Apparently it has to do with the amount of liquor that is poured into the glass, not with the ice cubes themselves.
Dorfman complained, and rather vociferously, according to reports. The bill was adjusted.
