Memorial Day Eats

Memorial Day is just around the corner and having the family over can be a bit overwhelming for some.

Not to worry, since there are simple solutions for that. The first thing to consider is simplicity. Cooking for a large number of people makes it difficult for the regular cook to prepare elaborate dishes. Just prepare basic dishes and relax.

Cook in Bulk. If you are cooking for more than six people, it would be better to double the amount of meat, vegetables and other ingredients. If possible, cook in a larger pot in order to maximize heating. As for grilling meats and vegetables, a medium-sized grill will do the trick, since cooking is best done in sets.

Lastly, cooking for a large gathering is a social event. Today is turning into a gorgeous day. Cook outside. Grab a few bottles of beer or a pitcher of sangria, smoky barbecue in the air, or plates of steaming dishes would be a perfect fix on this day.

Here are some great cooking ideas that you can try at home:

Chestnut and kale soup would be a smart beginning for a meal. Warm and filling, it can serve as an excellent appetizer for the table. It is the same thing for gluten-free broccoli cheese soup, which is just right for those worried about their intolerance.

For salads, large gatherings would require a fast and filling dish. That is the reason why potato salads are the best for these occasions. For those who like a more protein-packed variant, then a bowl of chicken Caesar salad would to the trick.

Grilled meats are the norm for the main course. This makes a platter of grilled beef a delicious highlight for the occasion. To cleanse the palate, a cup of grapefruit-ginger sherbet would be the best. It is the fitting end for an enjoyable evening.
