Melitta Launches Line of European Gourmet Coffee

Brewing a perfect cup every time
The very first coffee maker I purchased was a Melitta — it came with a simple carafe, and a plastic cone-shaped insert you placed on top of the carafe. After you boiled water in a tea kettle, and placed a paper filter and coffee into the cone-shaped insert, you slowly poured boiling water on the ground coffee and watched the coffee drip into the carafe. That’s about as basic as it gets, and although now there are auto-drip makers, to this day drip made coffee is the best way to prepare a superlative cup of java.
Melita says they’ve been around for 100 years and I’m inclined to believe them, because it seems like a 100 years ago since I bought that coffee maker. They’ve been roasting coffee for over 40 years at their coffee roastery in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, so I was excited to discover that Melitta launched a new line of European gourmet coffee products.
There is a medium and dark roast, a combination of light and dark, decaffeinated and a Hazelnut Crème Brulee and Parisian Vanilla flavored coffee. An 11-ounce bag sells for $5.99. Brandweek says retailers in the Philadelphia metropolitan area are now carrying it. A national rollout will soon follow, beginning with major markets located in the Northeast.
