Is Hollywood Actor Training to be a Chef?

When is an actor not an actor?   When he’s a chef, of course.

Independently minded Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves, who has appeared in such blockbuster films as Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Speed and The Matrix, is taking a detour from his movie career to study molecular gastronomy.

The critically acclaimed Reeves, who was born in Lebanon, but holds Canadian, American and British citizenship, apparently has become quite interested in molecular gastronomy and the work of its creator, Herve This.   He has been reading This’ cookbook, Molecular Gastronomy: Exploring the Science of Flavor and the book is inspiring him to do a lot of experimenting in the kitchen.

Reeves is quoted as saying, “I’m dabbling in it and looking at becoming a chef.  He is fantastic. I didn’t really cook before, but this book may be changing my life.”

Hmmmm.  Do we see a restaurant opening in Reeves’ future?   With his international background, widespread popularity and interest in molecular gastronomy, a restaurant bearing his name could be quite the chic and exciting place to dine.
