Recipe of the Day: The Perfect Turkey
As the bird makes the perfect turkey, cooking it in the best manner possible is an important step in achieving a memorable Thanksgiving centerpiece. This recipe promises that tastiest turkey you will ever have: it’s tender and moist, and will go well with any yummy stuffing you’ll make.
Ingredients
A 12 pound whole turkey, neck and giblets removed
1/2 cup butter, cubed
2 apples, cored and halved
1 tablespoon garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
2/3 (750 milliliter) bottle champagne
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Insert the cubes of butter under the turkey’s breast skin.
Put the apples inside the cavity. Season with garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Place the turkey inside a roasting bag. Pour in your choice of champagne inside and outside the turkey. Seal the bag and place it on a roasting pan.
Bake the turkey for about 3 to 3 ½ hours or until the bird reaches the internal temperature of 180 degrees F.
When the meat reaches the desired temperature, take the turkey from the bag and let it rest for at least 20 minutes.
Carve the turkey and serve it with your favorite stuffing and gravy.
