How to Choose Your First Cast Iron Skillet
A cast iron skillet can be your best friend for life…and it can outlast you when properly cared for. If you are about to take the dive into the life of cast iron ownership, there are a few rules you should follow:
100% Metal: The pan should be made of no other material, except for cast iron. If it has fancy handles or anything else, skip it and find another.
Even: Make sure your cast iron skillet has no dents, missing chunks, or rusted/pitted areas.
Seasoned: Sure, you can season it yourself, but why would you want to.
Our Recommendation: Lodge is inexpensive compared to other brands, lasts forever and a day, and comes pre-seasoned.
