Nightclub Hosts Food Stamp Party – Free Shots At DoorA nightclub in Montgomery, Alabama plans on hosting a “Food Stamp Friday”party on April 6.

An invitation for the party obtained by The Daily Caller indicates patrons of the Rose Supper Club in North Montgomery will be charged just a $5 cover charge if a “food stamp card”is shown upon arrival.

The artwork on the postcard-size flier advertising the party includes the image of an Electronic Benefit Transfer card, the debit card used to redeem SNAP benefits, accompanied by a flier announcement of “free shots at the door”

According to the Huffington Post, manager Harman Wilson says the night is meant to complement the club’s other theme nights, such as Fat Tuesday, Karaoke Wednesday or Thirsty Thursday.

Wilson says patrons will not be able to use their food stamps to buy alcoholic beverages. He says he hopes the novel approach will draw people to the club.

The Daily Caller claims an employee who answered the telephone at the Rose confirmed the “Food Stamp Friday”party is taking place. “It’s just a little party they’re having,”said the employee.

Another Rose employee told The Daily Caller he is not comfortable with the theme because it’s disrespectful. “Now that’s hurting somebody’s feelings,”Richard Thomas said. “Name this party something else”

Thomas said he knows of at least three phone calls placed to the venue complaining about the party’s theme. He said a young party promoter chose the name. “I don’t know what these young people are doing,”he said.

SNAP cards used to obtain cover charge discounts at night clubs is just the latest in a string of events involving the commercial exploitation and mockery of state food aid that has now reached epic record levels.

According to the USDA, the number of Americans using Food Stamps via the Supplemental nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), rose in December of 2011 to a now-historic high of 46,514,238, an increase of more than a quarter million Americans.

That means 1 in 7 Americans are on Food Stamps.

Last year, a local FOX News station in Oregon reported food stamps are being used to purchase coffee drinks like Frappuccinos and desserts from Starbucks.

Food Stamps can be used to purchase fast food in four states across the country. The number of businesses approved to accept food stamps has increased by a third between 2005 to 2010.

Yum! Brands” KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Long John Silver’s” are among those applying for inclusion in the food stamp program.
