It was not long ago that the world has witnessed the rebirth of the rather hidden treasure in Nordic cuisine. Now, as they crawl back into the competitive market of culinary cultures, the Nordic cuisine has even something more to offer in an international level.

We have heard of food regions such as France, Italy, and Spain being on top of the food scene. For having so many culinary techniques under their toques, France has been consistent in being a top leader in this category, Italy which has been noted for bringing in freshness and simplicity in an outstanding culinary way, and Spain for updating their cuisine and bringing the old traditional into a different level of modernity when it comes to cooking. The trend has been like this for years, not until the world has finally recognized the beauty of the Nordic cuisine, charming the people with its humble yet sophisticated offering.

If you haven’t heard of it, the countries that make up the Nordic region are the Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland as well as the territories associated with these countries. The Nordic is sometimes referred to being the same as the Scandinavia, although Scandinavia is used to define more specific countries such as Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. The world’s craving for Nordic cuisine must have come in at the right place and at the right time. Today, undoubtedly the world’s  best restaurant is of Nordic inspiration ” the restaurant, Noma, being awarded with a two-star rating along with the world-class tagged name. But it’s not only Noma that has been recognized in the culinary industry, as Denmark have also receive the prestigious gold medal at the Bocus d’Or finals in Lyon, France just January this year. This is for the extraordinary display of cooking skills headed by Danish chef Rasmus Kofoed and his brilliant culinary team.

Unveiling the Nordic CuisineThe Nordic cuisine is not just about recreating traditional cuisines and making use of ingredients that are found locally and turning your dreams into culinary masterpieces. What excites people about the Nordic cuisine is its ability to transform the ordinary into extraordinary, the sharing of ideas that everyone gets from one another ” there’s no jealousy, there’s just inspiration, from the big kitchens to the smaller ones. They make it clear that cuisines are made with local Nordic ingredients, diversified through making use of modern culinary practices, and even fusing with the world’s best culinary giants.

The revolution to create the New Nordic Cuisine seemed to be very successful in getting people to acknowledge its presence in the food industry. The introduction of the New Nordic Cuisine does not end here, in fact, they are just getting started. Learn everything about the New Nordic Cuisine right from the people who have started this food revolution ” the people behind it. Copenhagen plays hosts to the First International Nordic Feed Conference on August 26-28, 2011. Get the stories straight from Claus Meyer, one of the people responsible for the New Nordic Cuisine’s success, and other notable names in Nordic cuisines and healthy cooking.

This one-of-a-kind event will also include Copenhagen Cooking which is the biggest food fest in the Nordic region that is set to feature special event offering, cooking courses, workshops, music, presentation, and a whole lot more. Another thing to look forward to is the MAD Foodcamp, of which the brains behind restaurant Noma will be gathering chefs, foodies, plant experts, and farmers for a small food conference to be able to share, discuss, cooking, organize events and workshops. This first ever food fest is given the theme, “the plant kingdom,”with a common goal of providing better food for everyone.

The Nordic cuisine has much more character than what it has been before. It has become healthier, more localized without being too ancient. It may not be as far as the French, Italian, and Spanish cooking has gone to, but give it a few more years, and it will blossom beautifully in its entirety.
