Healthy Is Smart! Kids’ Snack Options

Healthy kids are not by accident. They are nurtured from conception to birth up to their tender years. It’s just natural for kids to munch on something in the morning or in the afternoon and in between meals. But with the kind of foods that are being advertised on television put much influence on kids, is there a way to have kids munch on healthier snacks?

Kids have smaller stomachs as compared to adults. It is possible that they do not get all the nutrients from the foods they need when they eat their regular meals. It’s good to provide kids some nutritional foods in between these meals so that they still get enough nutrients they need to keep them healthy and energized. Well, parents should be aware of the kinds of  foods that they can give to their kids. Kids are often unaware of the bad effects of junk foods to their health. So, as parents, it’s your responsibility to provide them with healthy snacks as much as possible. The usual junk foods that we love to munch on, especially kids often contain empty calories and excessive trans fat, sodium, etc. The kids’ systems are still developing, so usually they are more prone to disease and adverse medical conditions. As parents, you should be able to provide them the best preventive measures as possible. Resort to healthy eating and lifestyle.

Parents should be aware of the kind of foods that are being served on school canteens. While most canteens now try to prepare healthy and delicious treats to the kids, there are still some who are still patronizing junks. Well, school canteens, first of all, are doing business. They don’t sell what the people most likely are not buying. So they try to sell foods which are appealing to the public. But because of the widened act against unhealthy snacks for kids, canteens have learned the art of preparing healthy treats to kids such as nut packs, sandwiches, fresh juices, milk, fruits, etc. Kids go to school for education. So, as part of the school’s health program, canteens should also be able to teach the kids on how to have a healthy lifestyle by healthy eating.

Kids also love to bring their own snacks to munch at school. Be a source of good foods by preparing some delicious treats for your kiddos. Homemade kids snacks are the healthiest foods which the snack market lacks. Be creative in preparing the snacks. Check out the foods that your kid will most likely eat ” the healthy ones. If you have time, experiment on snacks during weekends. Learn some quick snack tips that you and your kids will definitely enjoy. Prepare some veggie sticks like celery sticks and cucumber sticks with fun dips for some light snacks. Make them some fresh fruit juice that are in this season for some fruity drinks. You can add green veggies on lean meat sandwiches but exclude mayonnaise and other high-fat ingredients. You can also buy or make them low-fat yogurt and put them in cups for your kids to bring to school or have them when they are home.

Snacks should be light on the tummy, delicious, and healthy. Kids like to have fun, especially with their food. There are a lot of ways to be creative in preparing foods. Know what your kids like and what your kids need so you’ll be able to make healthier snack options for them to snack on while watching their favorite TV shows or when they are in school.
