Maoam Candy

What’s more wholesome than hard sour candy?  Well, apparently it’s not so wholesome any more.

Haribo MAOAM sour candies are the current subject of complaints, after a father purchasing the product for his two young children was appalled to find what he described as “pornographic” images of limes, lemons and cherries romping with each other, in what could only be described as lewd and lascivious behavior.

“The lemon and lime are locked in what appears to be a carnal encounter,” said Simon Simpkins in an interview with the Daily Mail.  Simpkins went on to say, “The lime, whom I assume to be the gentleman in this coupling, has a particularly lurid expression on his face.”

Simpkins demanded to speak with the shop owner, and the two of them got into a heated discussion over the label.  Simpkins’ wife got so upset that she had to leave and sit down.

A spokesman for the European made Haribo candy told the Daily Mail that the “fun’ packaging of the sweets was introduced in Germany 2002,” and added that “This jovial MAOAM man is very popular with fans, both young and old.”

Guess it all depends on how you interpret it…
