Shocking Video Exposes Food Inspection Fraud at Golden Corral

When Brandon Huber, an employee at Golden Corral, uploaded a video to YouTube showing how a Florida Golden Corral hid large quantities of food from state health inspectors by moving food outside near the garbage bins, the event went viral on social media.

In addition to surreptitiously hiding this food from health inspectors, meat stored unrefrigerated for two hours or more can carry bacteria and cause foodborne illnesses.

In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, bacteria growth can double every 20 minutes when food is left at room temperature.

According to the Huffington Post, Golden Corral claims they fired the manager after Huber, the rogue employee, uploaded the video.

Huber, who identified himself as a cook, said the food would be brought back inside to be served to customers.

“I don’t feel this is right,” said Huber. In a separate video he claims he is “scared” of losing his job over this, but would “not eat this stuff.”

Eric Holm, who owns the Golden Corral where the video was filmed, said the manager involved in the improper food storage was terminated for not following proper food-handling procedures.

In a statement forwarded to The Huffington Post on Monday, Holm said that none of the food shown in the video was served to customers.

After the video was posted on YouTube, this comment was made by the franchisee, Eric Holm:

In regard to the video that is currently being circulated by an employee of Golden Corral of an isolated incident of improper food handling at our Port Orange, Florida location please note:

1. The food in the video was never served to a single customer.

2. All of the food was thrown away immediately.

3. The employee in the video participated in disposing of the food.

4. The employee in the video – through his father – offered to sell the video.

5. The manager at the restaurant was terminated.

Eric Holm added that none of these items were served to a single customer, and all were destroyed within the hour at the direction of management. Brandon Huber, the employee who made the video, participated in the disposal of the food.

According to WOKV.com, the following day, Brandon Huber’s father posted an offer to sell the video for $5,000 which was not accepted.
