What's This?

This is the restaurant that forever changed Antonio into a man that now loves tartare. Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina is a lovely little place across from the Pitti palace in Florence. They don’t serve many dishes since their kitchen is quite small. Those they do serve are superb.

Think of this place as more of a wine bar. We found this place on a hot summer day of walking through Florence. We walked in and within seconds I knew this place would please me. They carry wines and spirits from all over Italy and have a fantastic BTG (by the glass) program.

We sat and ordered. I started with the hand cut beef tartare with black truffles (12 Euros). This was the leanest and most flavorful tartare I have had to date. The truffle shavings were sinful and paired perfectly with the beef. Most surprising was the accompanying vegetables. Just slightly cooked so they gave a bit of fight to the teeth and topped by some lovely cooked tomatoes.

For our pasta, we opted for one that came with guanciale (cheeks), roasted cherry tomatoes and pecorino (12 Euros). The pasta was obviously just made a few minutes before it was cooked. The cheeks were succulent; flavorful. The tomatoes, divine.

The dishes at this restaurant/wine bar were immaculately prepared. I highly suggest a visit to this restaurant on your next trip to Florence.

Enoteca Pitti Gola E Cantina is located at Piazza Pitti 16, 50125 Florence, Italy 055.212704
