Driving Cars = Extra Flab

This is another good reason why we should ditch the ride.

Researchers from the University of Illinois were able to come up with a surprising discovery. Based on their surveys during the periods of 1985 to 2007, they were able to correlate the relationship between the rise of obesity and the number of cars being used. The results showed a shocking 99% correlation to the increase in obesity cases.

This gives weight-loss advocates additional fuel for their healthy transport campaigns. Walking to work, riding bikes, using more public transport systems, all these could help reduce the number of Americans suffering from the extra fat. Thinking about it further, the results would really not come as a surprise.

With the increase of car owners in the country, it is only natural that more and more people would spend more time traveling inside their cars, instead of walking or running to their place of work. Add a high-calorie diet and a sedentary lifestyle, and it would certainly be a recipe for trouble. No wonder the number of overweight people is still on the rise.

Driving Cars = Extra FlabWhile there are some people advocating the reduction of car-owners, or the cars themselves, on the streets, what ultimately remains the strongest card in the fight against obesity are the people themselves. It would not hurt to take a walk to work, especially if it is close by. Besides, less driving cars mean less gasoline. It would certainly be a good way to solve the current energy crisis.

Not to mention getting a slimmer waist.
