Is this too early to start?
Would you love to see your kids pursue a career in the culinary arts? It’s never too early to begin motivating youngsters to explore their creativity in the kitchen. Even if your own skills are rusty or non-existent, cooking schools are popping up throughout the country to help children enjoy and appreciate the fun of food preparation.
One of the fastest growing cooking schools is Young Chef’s Academy, the nation’s first franchise offering culinary classes, mini-camps, and cooking-themed birthday parties for kids between three and fifteen years of age.  YCA encourages these emerging epicurians to begin their lifelong love affair by teaching them the proper preparation, cooking and serving of good food.  Operating in 24 states and Canada, YCA is one of the fastest growing and most successful franchises, according to Entrepreneur Magazine and has been featured in print and electronic media, including Jon and Kate Plus 8, where twins Mady and Cary enroll in YCA cooking classes.
YCA offers kids as young as three the opportunity to learn age-appropriate skills in their KinderCooks classes. Kids between ages five and thirteen can enroll in Jr. Chefs classes followed by Senior Chefs and Master Chefs classes, for those who express exceptional skills and interest.
Kids in the program will learn:
• Kitchen safety
• Proper food handling
• Food preparation
• Cooking and baking techniques
• Presentation
• Table setting
• Manners
These courses help young chefs explore cuisines while building upon basic skills.
Children who express an interest in cooking may find enrolling in structured culinary classes more suited to their personalities than informally helping mom or dad in the kitchen. It’s nice to know that our future iron chefs and gastronomic stars have options from which to grow!
