What's This?

The McDonald’s website touts the Big Mac as “A double layer of sear-sizzled 100% pure beef mingled with special sauce on a sesame seed bun and topped with melty American cheese, crisp lettuce, minced onions and tangy pickles.” I know we’ve all had one and loved it. Did you know you can create the same flavors at home? Yup…you can. We’ve got the recipe below and a video from McDonald’s executive chef Dan Coudreaut showing us how to make a Big Mac at home.

McDonalds Big Mac Recipe

Here’s how to make a healthier version of McDonald’s Big Mac

***If you want to make it healthier, skip a little on authenticity. All that stuff from Kraft is full of bad stuff like High Fructose Corn Syrup, try to find healthier, organic alternatives.

Big Mac Sandwhich

  • 1 regular sized sesame seed bun

  • 2 previously frozen regular beef patties (or you can get yourself some really good organic grass fed beef.

Cooking your Big Mac:

  2. Toast the bottom of the two buns first since you need another for the middle bun.

  4. When the buns are toasted, put 1 tablespoon of ”Mac sauce” on each of the bottom buns on the toasted side.
  5. Add 1/8 cup shredded lettuce to each bun.
  6. On the true bottom bun, place one thin slice of cheese on top of the lettuce.
  7. On the middle bun, add two pickle slices on top of the lettuce.
  8. Toast the bottom part of the top bun.
  9. When the meat is ready, put one each on the bottom buns.
  10. Stack the middle bun on top of the bottom bun, and put the top bun on top.
