Airport food used to be a disappointment, especially when facing long ticket lines and delayed flights. This is no longer the case. Delightful airport dining is made possible through fantastic restaurants at most airports. Next time you’re traveling, make sure to pay the following airport restaurants a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport ” Terminal E

Georgia, Atlanta

One Flew South: Grab a Southern or Asian meal before taking off to your final destination. One Flew South has a mini sushi bar, a menu with a signature pulled duck sandwich, and fun cocktails and wines for a simple nightlife while waiting for your dear plane ride.

Chicago O’Hare International Airport ” Terminal 1

Illinois, Chicago

Tortas Frontera: This Mexican joint in O’Hare’s Terminal 1 is opened by Celebrity chef, Rick Bayless. You’ll find delectable Mexican treats using his popular fresh breads, and loads of beef, chorizo, and pork. Expect to have a great flight after dining at the Tortas Frontera

Long Island, New York

Prime Tavern: This airport restaurant in Queens, offers classic beef and steak dishes. Executive Chef Michael Lomonaco of the Porter House New York offers an extensive menu of great steak dining pleasures.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Los Angeles, California

Encounter Restaurant: Dine like The Jetsons with this futuristic restaurant at the center of LAX. Get started with some organic salad entrees and other Californian dishes. You can also set up a relaxing flight mood with their signature martinis and the alien beer tap. This is a hip flying saucer that will never leave the stars behind.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

San Francisco, California

Ebisu: If you’re looking for a quick bite before your flight, head out to SFO’s Food court and look for Ebisu. They offer tempura, shrimp, and seaweed appetizers, as well as more hearty dishes like rice bowls and noodles. Their specialty sushi rolls (we recommend the Hanukkah Roll: smoked salmon with salmon roe and green onions). This is a mini haven for sushi and Japanese food lovers at the airport.

Boston Logan International Airport

Boston

Legal Sea Food: There’s a different food in each of the terminals of this Airport restaurant in Boston. Terminal A has a limited menu for the quick bites and delivery; Terminal B offers lots of booze (beers) with the regular menu; and Terminal C offers Legal Sea Food restaurant territory. Sure, we know it is a chain; but it does not take away from them serving fresh, high quality seafood.

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)

New York

Deep Blue Sushi: Chef Michael Schulson promises a menu featuring the creatures of the Deep Blue. The restaurant serves tempura, shrimp, and of course the famous sushi cuts and Japanese rolls that make for a perfect treat for airport guests.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

Seattle, Washington

Ivar’s: This restaurant branch at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is one of the best fish and seafood bars in the airport arena, tracing their roots since 1983. Try their bar specialties such as the scallop, fish, and clams served with chips on the side.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport

North Carolina

42nd Street Oyster Bar: This restaurant at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport keeps on pulling out the big guns when it comes to seafood bar servings. Make sure you’re ready for a messy treat of seafood wonders like oysters and shelled shrimps. It might be best to get here a few hours before your flight to make sure you’re squeaky clean before you hop into your plane.

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport

Minneapolis, Minnesota

French Meadow Bakery Cafe: I know fellow travelers would agree that this mini restaurant/bakery/cafe in the MSP airport serves a few of the best airport treats in the U.S. From comfort foods like the tomato-basil soup to omelets and other baked goodies. The French Meadow Bakery Cafe definitely reminds me of my favorite home-cooked meals.
