If anything, coffee is a drink worth your time. Hot or cold, coffee and its various forms bring a certain level of satisfaction to anyone that drinks it. Personally, it’s one of the most delicious beverages known to man, and it’s perfect for perking up those sleepy eyes in the morning. You can almost smell the rich aroma of a steaming mug of coffee already, as well as the bitter-sweet taste of the drink as it touches your lips. It’s an experience like no other.

Coffee drinkers around the world would know perfectly well what I’m talking about. This beverage has a rich history, dating back several centuries ago. Even until now, man still holds coffee in fascination. With so many different varieties of coffee being sold around, you might just have an information overload.

Well, that’s not really the case. As long as you have a good guide like the one below, then you’d be able to make a smart choice in the coffee you buy. Shall we take a look?

Coffee: The Unique Taste Around the World

1. Kona Coffee ” cultivated from the volcanic soils of Kona, Hawaii, this coffee variety is prized around the world for its distinctive aroma. One could say that a whiff of freshly brewed Kona coffee is enough to send you to caffeine heaven. The sunny morning and rainy or cloudy afternoons, minimum winds, and rich soil are said to contribute to the prized qualities of the Kona beans, making them the most expensive coffee in the world. A pound of Kona coffee could easily fetch a $30 in the market, although coffee borer infestations may create a spike in prices if not treated immediately.
2. Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee ” for those looking for a mild, yet delicious, cup of coffee, then the Blue Mountain variety may be just the right kind for you. Cultivated in the Blue Mountain regions of Jamaica, where the soil is rich and rainfall abundant, this particular coffee is known for its mild flavor and lack of bitter taste. It’s these qualities that make it one of the most sought-after coffee varieties, especially in Japan. It’s also the main flavoring for Tia Maria coffee liquor. A pound of high-quality coffee beans can sell as high as $50 in the market.
3. Java Coffee ” perhaps one of the most common coffee varieties that you’d hear, Java has evolved in the American language as slang for coffee. Actually, Java coffee is a variety cultivated in some parts of Indonesia, where the rich soil and tropical climate provides an ideal environment for growing coffee. It’s different from other coffee varieties, given that it’s sweet-tasting, despite it’s very dark color and strong aroma. Also, Java coffee beans are used in making kopi luwak, undoubtedly the most expensive coffee in the world.
4. Colombian Coffee ” another coffee variety of note would be the Colombian kind. Widely available in the United States, this variety is noted for its balanced flavor and good body. The naturally rich soil of Colombia, and careful cultivation of the plants by local farmers, made Colombian coffee one of the favorites around the world. However, due to changes in the climate, production of coffee in Colombia is in decline. If the trend continues, then coffee prices might have to increase.
5. Kenyan Coffee ” among coffee drinkers, Kenyan coffee is also a variety that shouldn’t be missed. Noted for its smooth flavor and quality beans, this is a proud product of Kenya. Despite the hot conditions, coffee cultivated in Kenya owes its flavor to the generous rainfall and careful tending of the coffee plants by the farmers.
