What's This?

Contaminated AlfalfaSpecialty Farms has recalled Alfalfa sprout products that may be contaminated with Listeria. Listeria can be fatal and is specially dangerous in children, the sick, the pregnant and the elderly. In healthy people, Listeria can cause high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Items involved in the recall have “Best if Sold By” dates between “8/3/2010″ and “8/1/2010″.

If you have any Specialty Farms brand Organic Alfalfa Sprouts Blend and Organic Sprout Salad, 4 ounces plastic containers, that fall under the above dates, DO NOT CONSUME.

Also look out for Stop & Shop brand Natures Promise Organic Alfalfa Sprouts 4 ounce container and 8 ounce bag and Natures Promise Organic Zesty Sprouts 4 ounce, best if sold by date of 8/1/2010.

For photos of all the recalled products, head to the USDA website.
