As part of the Taste Tour of Las Vegas hosted by the Harrah’s group of resorts, a few years back, FriendsEAT co-founders Antonio Evans and Blanca Valbuena dined at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville.
Blanca characterized Margaritaville as more of a throwback to her days at college. But since then, more than 60 restaurants in Las Vegas have opened, been redesigned, or soon plan to open.
And the Vegas “fine dining” paradigm is being replaced by quality food at affordable prices. Hotels now have sports bars, buffets, and sushi spots doors away from the fine dining restaurants that used to dominate the scene.
One such place is TAP, a new sports bar that recently opened in the MGM Grand. The executive chef Steve Barr offers impressive fried veggies and TAP’s Reuben sandwich is made with pastrami that “melts in your mouth.”
TAP has a great line-up such as Little Phillys cheese steak sliders, sourdough pretzels with cheese, and a selection of craft burgers and sandwiches.
